Morrissey - I'm A Poet

22 December 1992- Le Zenith - Paris, France

The second to last gig promoting the "Your Arsenal" album was a big success. Morrissey wasn't going through his best period in his homeland, but at the time, he could do no wrong as far as the French were concerned.
The setlist was almost the same as on the previous date, the only change was the replacement of "He Knows I'd Love To See Him" by "Suedehead". The album's first three UK singles were moved up at the beginning of the show, followed by the two American singles. Entering stage, Morrissey greeted his fans with "Hello lovers!". After "You're The One For Me, Fatty", the crowd broke into the first of a few chants of Morrissey's name. In "Glamorous Glue" a line was changed to "I've been too much in love". After that song, as heard on the "Beethoven Was Deaf" official live album, Morrissey said "I. Still. Cannot. Speak. French... (crowd cheers and boos) I am. Very. Lazy". He was of course refering to the Paris concert from the Kill Uncle tour when he had said "I cannot speak French". That concert had been broadcast on French radio and heavily bootlegged, so many French fans were familiar with it. After "Tomorrow", Morrissey addressed his audience again: "You are so far!". The fans were teased with the opening notes to "Ouija Board Ouija Board" at the beginning of "November Spawned A Monster". This had become a tradition on this leg of the Your Arsenal tour. "The National Front Disco" was again unusually played early in the set instead of its usual set closer position. After the song's usual noisy ending, in contrast, the slow "Seasick, Yet Still Docked" sounded very mellow to the ears.
In "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday", Morrissey changed a line to "I know it's gonna happen someday, to me". He made none of the usual changes in "We'll Let You Know", but he still sang "Is it London?" in a falsetto voice over the bridge, and at the very end, he added the line "... and I'd love to". There were a few last minute setlist changes towards the end of the show. "He Knows I'd Love To See Him" was scheduled to be played as the last song before the encore, but it was dropped. "Suedehead" was supposed to be the first encore, but it was moved up and "You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side" replaced it. The latter had originally been scheduled to be played after "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday". In the bridge in "Suedehead", Morrissey sang the mostly undecipherable "Well it's because, all the things that I done, all I've ever known". The show was ended after "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys" with the same line as the previous one "Thank you, I love you, goodbye".
