Morrissey - Live From Roseland
(Audience Recording)
25 November 1992 - Roseland - New York, New York
This gig went without a hitch, a relief to fans who had attended the previous concert. Morrissey and his audience were all in excellent spirits. Because the gig was the second consecutive one in the same city, the setlist was significantly scrambled. "He Knows I'd Love To See Him" and part-timer "Interesting Drug" were not played. "Sister I'm A Poet" and "You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side" were on the setlist after "Certain People I Know", but they were skipped. However, if it was any consolation for the shorter setlist, the fans attending this concert were lucky enough to see Morrissey's only ever performance of "Let The Right One Slip In". In the major resequencing of the setlist, standard set closer "The National Front Disco" found itself played right after the new set opener "The Loop". The song still ended in an extended chaotic jam of feedback just like it did when performed as set closer. After that, in contrast, "November Spawned A Monster" sounded very mellow to the ears. Morrissey started "You're The One For Me, Fatty" with maracas and threw them into the crowd when he was done with them. After "Suedehead", in true Morrissey fashion, he started to say something but didn't finish: "And... I hope that you... well... well..." Soon after, someone threw a Union Jack on stage. Morrissey picked it and held it up while singing the "London is dead" line in "Glamorous Glue". After the song he asked his audience "Do you feel uncomfortable? (crowd: 'yes!') Aahhh... yes? (someone shouted something) Good!" In the bridge in the next number, "We'll Let You Know", Morrissey ripped his shirt open and threw it into the audience. Just as the band was about to launch into "Such A Little Thing Makes Such A Big Difference", Morrissey sang what sounded like the title to "Moonriver", a song that he would record and release 18 months down the line. The encore consisted of the only ever performance of "Let The Right One Slip In". In it, Morrissey made a few changes. He sang "They will not see what you want them to", "Let the old dreams fade" instead of "Let the old days lay" and "What took you so long" instead of "What kept you so long". At the end of the song he shouted "I love you, goodbye" and everyone left the stage.
