The Smiths - Any Questions

31 July 1986 - Kingswood Music Yheatre - Toronto, Canada

The set was the same as in London the night before, minus "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now". All in all this was a great concert, like many others to come. Morrissey started with "We're sorry about the rain... we blame the Queen". At the time of the concert, Sire in North America were not planning to release the "Panic" single (they finally did later in the fall). So Morrissey introduced the song with "This is our new single which, naturally, of course they're not releasing". The version of "Still Ill" had Johnny Marr's intricate picking hidden during the first verse, so that Craig Gannon's rhythm guitar carried the song, giving a very different effect. At some point someone ripped off Morrissey's t-shirt so he remained bare chested until someone gave him a "I'd like to drop my trousers to the Queen" shirt from the 1985 tour. The show ended like many others on this tour, with half the audience invading the stage during the encore. Morrissey, forced to flee, left saying "We love you!". The Kingswood Theatre was part of an amusement park. Tickets were $5.00 plus admission to the fairgrounds. "How Soon Is Now?" and "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" could be heard soundchecked from the outside before the show, although the latter song was never played on this leg of the tour.
