This was another wild concert as Smithsmania was catching on. A greater number of people were attending the concerts, and they were much more into the gigs than the fans who had seen the band just a few months earlier. They shouted comments and praise, requested songs, etc. Morrissey seemed to be feeding off this, he sounded more and more confortable in front of an audience. Support bands were The Telephone Boxes and The Daintees. The Smiths entered stage and Morrissey greeted his audience "(We're) the delicate Smiths... hello!" before launching into "You've Got Everything Now". Throughout the evening he wasn't very talkative, but he shouted the titles before performing the songs, with an energy that echoed that of the audience in front of him. "Reel Around The Fountain" got the greatest and longest cheer of the evening. At this stage of the Smiths' career, it was the fans' favourite song. A studio version has yet to be released, but a recent radio session on John Peel programme had featured the song (alongside three others ones), and that session was often repeated on Peel's show, so many fans in the audience already knew all the words to it. The drum roll intro to "These Things Take Time" seemed to pick up from the great reception for "Reel Around The Fountain". "Hand In Glove", the Smiths only single at this point in time, was introduced with "This wasn't a hit... why?". In "Miserable Lie", when Morrissey realised he had made a mistake in the lyrics, he skipped the incorrect line and picked up on the next. That song was the regular closer for the main set at the time and as had become the custom, he simply shouted a "Goodbye" as soon as the last note was hit and the band left stage. The band returned for a first encore of "Accept Yourself" and a second helping of "Hand In Glove" before being called called back for a second encore. This time the audience were treated to a second helping of "Handsome Devil".
